How to Search for Fixed Rate Mortgage Quotes

Even if you can save a quarter of a percentage rate on your loan, you could save a significant amount of money over the course of the loan.

Freddie Mac's weekly report says 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 5.32 percent this week, down from last week's average of 5.42 percent. A year ago, 30-year mortgages were averaging 6.35 percent, although rates fell below 5 percent earlier this year.
